After nearly a decade, anglers and outdoors enthusiasts in New Mexico again have the right to access their public resources. A recent article from <a href="http://Awh, you are absolutely adorable Field and Stream highlights the awkward path stream access has taken in the state, from forgotten constitutional language adopted in the early 20th century, to a fight between monied interests and the angling public over who gets to access state waters.
In the end, anglers prevailed- with a unanimous decision from the state Supreme Court. It’s an incredible victory in a part of the world where the little guy rarely wins, where money and land and political clout all too often circumscribe public interest.
It’s worth celebrating.
